Downfall Funeral consists of four members; Christopher Martinez (vocalist, keys and guitar), Rafael Rodriguez (basses), Victor Romero (guitar, keys, and percussion), and Robert Flores (drumwork). Downfall Funeral was formed in 1992. With influences from Dead Can Dance, The Cure, Joy Division, and The Bauhaus, as well as other contributing influences from each member, the band was able to fuse distinct characteristics from their influences to create an original sound that has brought them a lot of attention in their home of Laredo, Texas. Their music can be described as having a Mid Eastern pulse with a sound as thick as an orchestra. The bass seems to carry a lot of the melodies along with the guitars, while the synthesizers fill the songs with sounds and strings that compliment the percussive rhythms. The band started their music in their home along with their neighboring city of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, where they received good reviews from the people and fanzines of both countries.

Currently, Downfall Funeral is in San Antonio, Texas. The band is now playing several shows around San Antonio and Laredo and will hopefully expand to playing other cities soon. Their CD was recorded in their own digital 8-track home studio. You can purchase a copy of the CD by clicking on the Merchandise link in the menu above.
